Karman-Kuryk Mountain

Karman Mountain comes from the Udmurt language, because before the 6th century AD, the ancient Udmurt Votyaki tribes lived in the territory of the Morkinsky district.

Karman - Kuryk is a low-mountain form of the Vyatka-Mari val, with large northern and eastern slopes, where rocks are exposed, which are characterized by dolomites, limestones, marls, clays, and sandstones. In addition, karst phenomena are developed here, caves existed. The height of the mountain is 224.2 meters above sea level.

conservation value of the Pocket Chicken was established by Professor V.N.Smirnov. In 1976, the mountain was declared a National Monument of Nature. Together with scientists and students of MarGU and MarGTU, an educational ecological trail has been developed for the purpose of conducting scientific educational and educational work. 15 stations have been created to study individual topics in biology and ecology, a tourist recreation area has been created, a well-spring has been dug, 2 reservoirs have been cleaned, soil and water analysis has been carried out.

This picturesque place is covered with legends and traditions: legends about Ovda, a mythical man who is spread throughout the Mari world, about the mighty Onar, who is associated with the origin of the mountain, and many others.
