The Central Park of Culture and Recreation in Yoshkar-Ola is 13.2 hectares of green space in the historical part of the city, where century–old trees, memorials, an 18th-century temple and modern attractions are located side by side. The park is open all year round and remains one of the main family vacation destinations in the capital of Mari El.
The history of the Central Park of Culture and Recreation begins in 1941. It was created on the basis of the former arboretum garden. Over time, the park has become not only a walking area, but also an important cultural venue of the city.
The main entrance is decorated with an arch built in 1960, an object of cultural heritage of regional significance. It was built according to the project of the chief architect Yoshkar-Ola Samoilov. The portico with columns and bas-reliefs in the Stalinist Empire style has become an architectural symbol of the park.
The Church of the Tikhvin Icon of the Mother of God, founded in 1774, is located on the territory. There is also a Memorial Ensemble of Military Glory(1975) with an Eternal Flame and a monument to the Unknown Soldier. In 2004, a monument in memory of the victims of radiation accidents was opened. In the early 1990s, a monument to V.I. Lenin was erected.
Today, the Central Park of Culture and Recreation in Yoshkar-Ola is a space where the history of the city is felt literally at every step.
More than an amusement park
The territory is bounded by Komsomolskaya, Pervomaiskaya, Pushkin and Kremlevskaya streets. There are 2,497 plants in the park: 2,188 trees and 309 shrubs. Among them are Manchurian walnut, Amur velvet, cedar pines, red maples and varietal lilacs.
In 2024, squirrels appeared here – today there are more of them, and walks often turn into a mini-photo hunt.
From April to September, there are 30 attractions: family, children's and extreme. Among the novelties of 2025 are a two–story carousel, Epicycle, Drift, and the Vortex tunnel of illusions. There is a rope park and a complex "Ferris Wheel-40"with a light and music show.

- In 2024, a brass cat named Toffee appeared in the park, part of the city's sculpture series.
- In 2025, 844 events were held, which were attended by more than 139 thousand people.
- The park will celebrate its 85th anniversary in 2026.

Working hours of theCentral Park of Culture and Recreation: the territory is open all year round; attractions – from April to September.
Cost: admission is free. Rides are paid for using the "Visitor's Card". For large families – 25% discount. A 30% discount promotion is available on Wednesdays in summer.
How to get to the Central Park of Culture and Recreation
- By car: the landmark is the city center, near Kremlevskaya Street.

The park is equipped with a ramp, a toilet for people with limited mobility, and a mother and child room. Video surveillance is in effect.
Tips for tourists
The best time to visit is in the warm season and in the evening, when the lights are on and concerts are taking place. The inspection should take 2-3 hours, with attractions – up to half a day.
Take comfortable shoes and cash or a bank card to replenish the "Visitor's Card". Photography is allowed.
If you are planning a route around the city and are thinking about what to see in Mari El, include the Bruges embankmentand Obolensky-Nogotkov Square – they are located nearby.

There are cafes with hot dishes, desserts and drinks around the perimeter. There are hotels in the center of Yoshkar-Ola within walking distance. It is convenient to combine a walk in the park with a sightseeing tour of the historical part of the city.
