Shorunzha (Uncho) is one of the ancient villages of the Morkinsky district, which is rightfully called an amazing land. Loyalty to the roots, respect for the customs and traditions of the ancestors, preservation and enhancement of the original and moral basis of national identity, preservation of the study of the Mari language and national holidays give the right to call the Morkinsky district the cradle of the Mari people and the source of talents.
In 2015, an ethnocultural complex was created in the village of Shorunzha. It includes a creative workshop, a museum and ethnographic complex "Ancient Mari manor". The estate has both a museum and a practical character. Ceremonial holidays and events are held here - the Mari Yuletide Shorykyol (Christmas), the Bakery (Maslenitsa), Kugeche (Easter), Agavayrem (The Feast of ploughing, going to prayers before the beginning and end of agricultural work), Semyk (great remembrance of the ancestors), Sorem (summer prayers) and others.
The
ancient Mari manor is a peasant manor with residential and outbuildings. The key object is the house of a wealthy Mari peasant of the 19th-20th centuries. The estate has expositions: a hut, a canopy, a two-tier cage with a balcony, a barn, a canopy, a barn, a barn, a summer kitchen, a carpentry workshop, a black bathhouse. The expositions are filled with all the necessary exhibits that characterize the material life of a peasant.
For many centuries, embroidery has occupied a special place in the life of the Mari people. Embroidery was one of the developed domestic crafts of the Mari people related to the manufacture of clothing.
The
studio for Mari national embroidery "Akrettur" develops napkins, towels, jewelry, scarves, ties and other souvenirs. The restoration of ancient Mari costumes (women's dresses, men's shirts, triangle shawl, women's headdress "shimaksh") is a huge work. Based on these ornaments, the studio creates completely new patterns on modern costumes.
There is
also a dowsing studio. Dowsing is the craft of making wicker products from vines: household utensils and containers for various purposes, such as boxes, baskets, furniture (tables, chairs, chests, cradles) and others.
Shorunzha was recognized as the cultural capital of the Finno-Ugric world in 2019. During the year, as part of the project, cultural events at the national and international levels will be held in the village of Shorunzha in the Morkinsky district.
