Mari Chodra National Park

Translated from the Mari language, "Mari Chodra" means "Mari forest". The territory of 36,600 hectares is covered with pine forests and broad-leaved forests. The National Park is known for its pristine karst lakes - Yalchik, Konan-Er, Toth-Er, Shut-Er, Glukhoe, Kichier, as well as flora and fauna.

It is here that the real celebrity tree is located - the Pugachev oak, covered with many legends. According to one of them, in 1774, a detachment of Yemelyan Pugachev stopped near the oak tree. According to legend, having climbed a tree, the chieftain watched the Kazan estates set on fire by his army.

The

rushing Ilet River washes the foot of the Maple Mountain, located in the national park, and from its top there is an amazing view of the forests stretching for many kilometers around.

Tourists and nature lovers annually visit picturesque places in order to get acquainted with unique natural objects, including the famous Pugachev oak, inhale the scent of blooming lilies of the valley, taste the purest mineral water, breathe fresh air, and take a break from the hustle and bustle of the city.

Ecological trails and routes, horseback riding have been developed for tourists. The routes pass through the forest area, you will get acquainted with the nature of the park, visit various historical and natural sites, and of course enjoy socializing with a horse.
