Interregional Festival of Historical Reconstruction "Heritage"
If you've ever dreamed of being inside a historical novel, then here's the perfect place and time for you. The annual Interregional Heritage Historical Reconstruction Festival will be held on the territory of the Tsarevokokshaysky Kremlin Cultural and Historical Complex, the only event in Mari El where history is literally being tried on.
  • Destination
    Republic of Mari El, Yoshkar-Ola
Heritage is an open–air theater where there are no spectators, only participants. The Middle Ages of the 9th–14th centuries will come to life right before your eyes – the era of warriors, merchants, blacksmiths, potters and itinerant craftsmen. For more than 15 years, this festival has been gathering reenactors from all over the country: from Moscow, St. Petersburg, Syktyvkar, Kazan, Samara, Chelyabinsk and other cities.

Since 2009, dozens of living history clubs have been participating in Heritage, and the festival itself has long gone beyond a local event and has become an important point on the map of cultural tourism in the Volga region.
The
Heritage Festival is loud, colorful, informative and very atmospheric. A real time machine without any special effects awaits you:
  • Historical fencing, archery and sulitz tournaments
  • Team buhurts – spectacular fights in full armor
  • Medieval Costume Contest – with equipment worthy of museum halls
  • Workshops: pottery, blacksmithing, wood carving and more
  • Folk concert and evening fire show
  • A
  • craft fair where you can buy handmade products based on historical patterns
For children, there is an animation game area with quests and medieval fun.

Where is the festival taking place? Of

course, in the most suitable place for this – in the Tsarevokokshaysky Kremlin, the heart of old Yoshkar-Ola and the main historical reconstruction of the republic. Only here the arcades of towers and bridges become real decorations for events that could have happened many centuries ago.

Why should I go?
  • This is a unique opportunity to "touch" history – literally: pick up a real sword, try on chain mail and test yourself on the shooting range.
  • It's a beautiful event for the whole family, intense, lively, and memorable.
  • This is an opportunity to take a fresh look at our cultural heritage and learn more about how our ancestors lived in the Middle Ages.
  • This is a chance to take truly lively photos, as if you have entered another age – without filters and productions.
  • It's just really cool. Atmospheric, dynamic, spectacular.
Come with a big family, friends, or just in a good mood and immerse yourself in the past, full of unknown smells, sounds, stories, and impressions.

More information about the festival, news and photos can be found in the official Heritage – Yoshkar-Ola group.

Heritage is not just a festival. This is the day when the past gets closer than the present. Meet me at the Tsarevokokshaysky Kremlin!
