"Uarnya payrem" Carnival send-off
On February 22, 2026, in the possession of the Mari Santa Claus – in the Residence of Yushto Kugyz – the national holiday "Uarnya Payrem" will be held – the Maslenitsa celebrations.

The
culmination of the holiday is the burning of an effigy of Maslenitsa and jumping over a bonfire. In the Mari tradition, this is a symbolic purification by fire and farewell to winter in order to meet spring without resentment and heavy thoughts.
"Payrem Bakery" is a good reason to get out with the whole family to the Residence of the Mari Santa Claus, spend the day outdoors, participate in ancient amusements and see with your own eyes how the Carnival was held at Mari.
- theatrical performance "Cheveryn, Uyarnya" ("Goodbye, Maslenitsa"); a
- concert with Mari songs and dances;
- folk games and competitions for children and adults;
- skiing downhill is for those who want to extend the winter by a couple more descents.
