Victory Day celebrations
Yoshkar-Ola salutes the Great Victory! We solemnly and gratefully celebrate May 9th.
  • Destination
    Yoshkar-Ola
From May 1-9, 2026, the capital of Mari El will immerse itself in the atmosphere of the most important, sacred and unifying holiday of our country. We invite residents and guests of the city to celebrate the 81st anniversary of the Great Victory together!

Victory Day is not only an important historical date, but also an opportunity to express our honor and respect to all those who have made an invaluable contribution to the defense of our Motherland. We are proud that together we create an atmosphere of unity and patriotism.

Our pride and memory

During the Great Patriotic War, over 142 thousand people from the Mari Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic went to the front, of whom 75 thousand died in captivity. 53 people from the Mari Republic were awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union for their military exploits, and 14 soldiers became full cavaliers of the Order of Glory.
The Mari Republic, being one of the rear regions of the USSR, provided Red Army soldiers with weapons and ammunition, food, and supplied the Mari forest to the front and the regions liberated from the Nazis. With these glorious pages of history, the republic has worthily inscribed itself in the annals of the Great Patriotic War.
During the Victory Day celebrations, we say "thank you!" for the peaceful sky above your head!

As part of the Victory Day celebrations, we invite you to take part in commemorative events that include:
