Peledysh Payrem in Sernur
On June 13, 2026, Sernur will celebrate Peledysh Payrem, one of the main holidays of the Mari people. Almost a century ago, in 1920, the idea of this celebration was proposed by a native of the Sernur district, writer, poet and playwright A. F. Konakov. Since then, "Peledysh Payrem" has become not just a calendar date, but a day when the Mari culture is revealed in all its diversity.
  • Destination
    Sernour
The holiday will begin with honoring the leaders of agriculture and the processing industry — people whose daily work is at the heart of the well-being of the district. Then thematic platforms will be launched:
  • concert scenes featuring performances by folk and modern bands;
  • sports and play areas for children and adults;
  • Mari farmsteads with traditional lifestyle, costumes and rituals;
  • shopping and souvenir stands with products of local craftsmen;
  • tasting of national cuisine;
  • workshops on folk culture – from songs and dances to crafts.
Peledysh Payrem will end with a big concert of Mari pop artists.
The
holiday is open to everyone: here you can get acquainted with the Mari traditions for the first time, and feel the atmosphere of a native celebration for those who have grown up with Peledysh Pyre since childhood.
