Festival of folklore ensembles "Creators and Guardians"
On May 16, 2026, the Peace Square in the village of Novy Toryal will turn into a large outdoor stage: the festival of folklore ensembles "Creators and Guardians" will be held here.
This is a day when not just bands come on stage, but whole families – several generations who sing, play, cook and create together, preserving the traditions of their land.

The grand opening ceremony will begin with the presentation of family-related folklore ensembles and creative groups of the Republic of Mari El. Irina Mikhailovna Petukhova, a methodologist in the folklore genre of the RNMC NT and KDD, will deliver a welcoming speech and a parting message to the participants.
The
competition program of the festival will be held in four categories:
"Creators and Guardians" is an open holiday for all residents and guests of Novy Toryal. You can come with the whole family: support performing ensembles, listen to folk songs, see traditional costumes, look at exhibitions and get acquainted with how ancient family traditions live today.

- "The best family folklore Ensemble" – live performance of songs, rites, ritual and game skits;
- "The best national cuisine" – traditional family recipes, table decoration, serving and history of dishes;
- "The best exhibition of decorative and applied art "Family Dynasties" - handicrafts, handicrafts and original works that are passed down from generation to generation;
- "The best photo exhibition "Our Family Tree" is family albums, old and new photographs telling about the roots and destinies of the family.
