Paranginsky municipal district

Paranginsky municipal district

Paranginsky district is located in the eastern part of the Republic of Mari El. It borders Sernursky district in the north, Mari—Tureksky district in the east, Morkinsky district in the south and Kuzhenersky district in the west. The area is 800 square kilometers.

In ancient times, the territory of the district was inhabited by Permian tribes of the Azelin culture. About a thousand years ago, Udmurts lived here, who were gradually pushed eastward by the Mari people coming here from the west. After the fall of Kazan, part of the fleeing Tatar population was adopted by the Mari people on their territory, as a result of which the Tatars made up about half of the population of the region.

The cathedral mosque has been preserved in the village of Alashayka in the Paranginsky district, which is a remarkable example of the architecture of Islamic culture in the middle of the 19th century. According to research, the two-story brick building of the Alashai Mosque was built at the expense of Kazan merchants in 1823-1829, in accordance with the highest permission of the Imperial Court, according to a special project approved by the St. Petersburg Department of Architecture. According to archival data, a total of three mosques were built in Russia under this project.

At present, the age-old traditions of Islam are being revived in the Parangin district. Mosques have been built on the initiative of believers, Orthodox churches and chapels are being restored, and the tradition of holding Marian prayers in sacred groves has been revived. Every year, traditional and national holidays "Peledysh Payrem", "Sabantuy", "Goose gatherings", "New Year", "Navruz", "Eid al-Adha" are held in the district.

The

natural attraction of the area is the relict forests. Reference plantings of cedar and Siberian larch. In the north of the Paranginsky district is the source of the Ilet River (a left tributary of the Volga River), which flows in a southwesterly direction. The river is replenished by the right tributaries: Olminka, Omshanka, Paranginka, Irovka with tributaries Unzha and Kupsherka. The Unzhinka River (a right tributary of the Shora River) originates in the southern part of the district.

The seasonal tourist route "Journey to Olory" has been developed, operating from May to October. The tour program includes an ethno-excursion to the sacred grove, acquaintance with the traditions and customs of the Mari people, an ecological excursion-a walk through the forest, as well as master classes.

The

Paranginsky district is also included in the author's route "9 springs" by Stepanova Iraida Alexandrovna.
