Kilemarsky municipal district
This is an area of pine forests of a sandy lowland plain, where the main types of forests are pine forests and pine-spruce forests. Deciduous forests are located in the river valleys. Deciduous trees, including oak forests, predominate in the coastal zone of the Volga River and in the mouths of its tributaries, which were taken into special account by the Maritime Department for shipbuilding back in the 18th century.
During the Ice Age, the territory of the modern Kilemarsky district was in a glacial zone. With the onset of warming, the Volga River and its tributaries were formed with the descent of glacial waters. So 5-8 thousand years ago, the appearance of the Trans-Volga region was formed, which has practically not changed until modern times.
Asignificant area is occupied by swamps, of which the Shamyaro-Kuplonginsky massif is one of the largest in the Volga region. The marshes were formed and are supported by the presence of many small rivers and channels with slow currents among the low banks. The purest lakes, vast expanses of endless fields and picturesque forests - all this beckons and invites you to enjoy the beauties of the Kilemarsky district of the Republic of Mari El.
The objects of ecological tourism include: Lake Kumyary (a system of three lakes, the transparency of the water is such that from a boat you can see everything that is happening at the bottom), Lake Luzhyar (one one of the largest lakes in the area and one of the favorite fishing spots), Molevoye Lake (the pearl of the Kilemarsky district, a favorite vacation spot for residents of the district and tourists), Shamyary Lake (a lake with a peat bottom, water transparency of 5-6 meters, is a natural monument), Lake Madarskoye (located right by the road, which allows it is easy for tourists to go fishing), Red Lake (the most mysterious lake in the area, there is a belief that a huge snake periodically appears in the lake from the water, especially at night).
The objects of pilgrimage tourism include the ancient churches and monasteries of the Kilemara region. These include 4 churches: the Church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker (village of Aktau, built in 1900, where the image of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker appeared), the Church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker (village of Nezhnur, founded in 1870. The five-domed St. Nicholas Church, built in the traditions and forms of ancient Russian architecture), the Church of the Nativity of Christ (Arda village, built in 1816-1825), the monastery of the Virgin Sergius Deserts. The peculiarity of the desert is that all buildings-temples, residential and utility rooms-are wooden. Tourists can visit the monastery only on Sundays or holidays, and not during lent. The monastery is also unusual in that the inhabitants of the monastery are not just monks and novices, they are hermitages. At the service in the monastery, reading and singing in Greek, which is sometimes unusual for the ear, can be heard.
One of the best places to relax in the Kilemarsky municipal district is the Razdolye tourist complex, located on the picturesque banks of the Arda River, which flows into the Volga nearby. This is a kind place for lovers of outdoor activities and fishing, parents with children, romantic adventurers and people tired of the hustle and bustle of the city. Razdolye always offers a decent vacation at affordable prices.
Kilemarsky district is a center for the promotion of the distinctive Mari culture, the revival and development of national traditions. People from Mari El and other regions of the Volga region come to Kilemarsky district for experience and to participate in various entertainment and educational events. The Interregional folklore and ethnographic festival "Land of the Ancestors" has become a brand not only for the district, but also for the republic, which hasturned into a kind of business card of the Kilemarsky district. Every year, an Orthodox festival for diocesan youth "Family-Small Church" takes place in the Kilemarsky district on the picturesque shore of Lake Molevoe, which allows them to explore the origins of the Orthodox family.
Itis equally interesting to visit the Kilemarsky Regional Museum of Local Lore, which carefully preserves the cultural and historical heritage of older generations. To date, the museum has more than 6 thousand artifacts. You can join the Mari culture by visiting the Mari costumes, master classes on weaving on an old loom.
