Zvenigovsky municipal district

Zvenigovsky municipal district

The district is located on the left bank of the Volga River and borders the Republic of Chuvashia from the south along the Volga.

Sailing by ship, you can see the town-forming shipbuilding and ship repair plant named after S.N. Butyakov, which gave birth to the city of Zvenigovo more than a hundred years ago. A convenient backwater for parking ships, the most picturesque places, and the presence of forests in the 19th century attracted the attention of Kostroma industrialists, who founded a ship repair plant in 1860 at the confluence of the Zvenigi River with the Volga.

A huge number of large and small rivers flow through the territory of the Zvenigovsky district: Volga, Ilet, Yushut, Bolshaya and Malaya Kokshagi, etc., as well as the Mari Chodra State Natural Park: pine forests, coniferous and broadleaf forests, many springs and mineral springs.

One of the bright recreation areas of the Zvenigovsky district is the village of Kokshaysk with a variety of opportunities for outdoor activities – a wake park, ATVs, surfing, snowmobiling, skiing, jet skis, boats and speedboats.

Currently, tourists are offered 3 operating routes that allow them to learn all the most interesting things about the outback - small settlements of the Zvenigovsky district.
