There

are many springs in our republic, where, through the prayers of the Mother of God and the saints, water is poured out with abundant grace-giving gifts. Revered for centuries, the holy spring near the village of Shabashi is one of the most famous in the Republic. When the spring became known, no one will remember, according to legend, one peasant plowman found an icon of the Kazan Mother of God in the field and hammered a spring of the purest water in the place of the appearance of the face of the Virgin.

The archaeological monuments include the Abasnur, Kolyanur, Prokopyevskaya, Semeykinskaya, Alekseevskaya kurgan groups (the Bronze Age — the end of the 2nd millennium BC), Verkhushnurskoye and Ronginsky cemeteries and the Tapsherskoe prayer field.

31 sacred groves belong to the landscape monuments. A place of pilgrimage for people is the key near the former village of Shabashi, which is considered sacred. Lake Kundushturskoye belongs to the natural monuments.

Sovetsky district is the birthplace of Hero of the Soviet Union A.N.Gromov, full knight of the Order of Glory N.T.Keleev.
