Mari-Turek municipal district

Republic of Mari El

The area is full of river valleys and ravines, hills and slopes. Fields and meadows, copses and groves, hills and plains create a rich variety of the surrounding nature. The small forest river of the Ireka district is a zoological natural monument of national significance for the protection of a grayling fish species very rare in the Volga-Vyatka basin, and the Kholodny Klyuch forest area, a favorite recreation area for the Mari-Turek people, has acquired the status of a republican reserve. The nature of the area is unique and unrepeatable, the Mari-Turek land generously gives its inhabitants: there are many medicinal plants, rare flowers, an abundance of berries and mushrooms, and a variety of wildlife.

The Sendinsky larch Grove is located in the northeastern part of the republic on the territory of the Mari-Turek municipal district. The larch massif is the oldest in the region and one of the few mature rock plantations in the Republic of Mari El. The cultures are over 100 years old.

The

area is proud of its history, culture, traditions and people. Everyone knows that Mari-Turek land is the small homeland of many famous people: the famous Russian ace pilot Nikolai Kokorin, the first Hero of the Soviet Union from Mari Sergey Suvorov, the first Mari academician Vasily Mosolov, professor of painting Mikhail Platunov, the first opera singer Svetlana Sushkina, the first Hero of Socialist Labor in the Mari ASSR Iskhak Murtazin. The architectural monuments of the area are unique. There are 4 churches located in the district, which are architectural monuments of national significance: the Church of the Holy Trinity in the village of Mamsiner, the Church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker in the village of Kosolapovo, the Church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker in the village of Mariets and the Church of the Nativity of the Virgin in the village of Khlebnikovo.

A special asset of the district is the V.P. Mosolov Museum of Local Lore, where unique material on ethnography, military and labor glory of the district is collected and stored.

Mari-Turek is home to the main sports facility in the entire north-east of the republic, the Ice Palace, which meets all modern requirements.

Mari-Turek district is distinguished by its ethnocultural diversity. Mari, Russians, Tatars, Udmurts and other nationalities live here in friendship and harmony. The culture of these nationalities is also interesting. Russian Russian holidays "Peledysh payrem", "Turekpazar", "Russian Birch Tree", "Ninth Friday", Tatar "Sabantuy", Udmurt "Gyron Bydton" are traditional for the region. By visiting such holidays, you can immerse yourself in the culture and traditions of these peoples, see traditional rituals, songs and dances, and taste the national cuisine.

In 2018, a festival was held in the village of Sardayal on the border of the republics of Mari El and Tatarstan with the support of the Krugok educational project. The village has become a place of attraction for young creative people from several regions and cities of Russia. The festival participants studied the culture, way of life, and ethnic characteristics of the Mari village at themed venues in the homes of local residents, in tents, outdoor areas, and in the club. They baked multi-layered pancakes in the oven, salted cucumbers, collected herbal preparations, and became participants in the Mari wedding. We attended workshops on designing benches with our own hands, decorating bags with botanical prints, creating comics with our own hands, recording a collection of village and nature sounds, singing, dancing, discussing youth issues and much, much more.
