Yurinsky municipal district

Yurinsky district is located in the west of the Republic of Mari El, bordered by the Gornomariysky and Kilemarsky districts of the republic, with Vorotynsky and Voskresensky districts of the Nizhny Novgorod region. Yurinsky district was established on August 28, 1924. There are five rural and one urban settlements in the district.

The

population of the district has an ancient history. This is evidenced by numerous archaeological sites dating back to the era of stone, Bronze, iron and the early Middle Ages. The urban settlement of Yurino and its surroundings are a Klondike for archaeologists. In total, 59 archaeological monuments, 25 historical monuments, and 13 architectural monuments are located on the territory of the Yurinsky district.

Specially protected natural territories of national importance have been established on the territory of the Yurinsky district: lakes Feminine, Svetloye and Gusinets.

In the Yurinsky district there is one of the pearls of the Volga region – Sheremetyevo Castle. With crenellated towers and stained glass windows, it looks like a medieval one and attracts tourists with its peculiar beauty. What is so amazing about this castle? First of all, his family tree. Its owners were Vasily Petrovich and Olga Dmitrievna Sheremetev, descendants of a well—known family. Traditional and interactive guided tours are conducted around the main house of the Sheremetev Castle, the manor, the Church of St. Michael the Archangel and the forest park area - "The Church of St. Michael the Archangel and the Manor of the Sheremetyevo Castle", "The Small Historical Ring of Yurino village".
