Novotoryalsky municipal district

Novotoryalsky district is located in the northeastern part of the Republic of Mari El.

It borders the Kirov Region to the north, Sernursky District to the east, Kuzhenerskiy District to the southeast, Sovetsky District to the south, and Orsha district to the west. The total area of the district is 92009 hectares. All settlements in the district are connected to the district center by paved roads.

In addition to historical and archaeological monuments, Novotoryalsky district has 18 libraries, 18 club institutions, a regional museum of local lore, a unique museum of military glory in Nemda Obalysh village and a museum of local lore in Bolshaya Nurma village, which are of undoubted importance in shaping the cultural image of the district.

One of the best agricultural enterprises in the Republic of Mari El, the First of May collective farm, is located on the territory of the district.

The number of tourist resources of interest in the development of tourist and recreational zones in the territory of the Novotoryalsky district includes the administrative center, the urban–type settlement of Novy Toryal, which includes industrial and agricultural enterprises, communications, transport, and service enterprises. A unique historical monument is the only unique collection of ancient Russian equipment in the Republic of Mari El by Andrey Nikolaevich Kuklin and the Shukshanskaya Bogatyrskaya zastava.
