Sheremetyevo Castle – pearl of the Volga region

Sheremetyevo Castle is rightfully considered one of the most impressive historical sites of the Volga region. The crenellated towers, stained glass windows and silhouette of the medieval fortress make it look like a European castle, and the rich history and atmosphere of the 19th century turn a visit here into a real journey through time.

The owners of the estate were Vasily Petrovich and Olga Dmitrievna Sheremetev, representatives of a famous family. Olga was the sister of the legendary General Mikhail Skobelev, whose memory is carefully preserved in the castle walls to this day.

Architecture and Interiors: a Journey through Styles

The castle was built in the late Gothic style, but Gothic, Romanesque, Oriental and Ancient Russian motifs are also discernible in its appearance. The contrast of red and black bricks with white stone elements gives the building expressiveness and special charm.

Famous architects of their time worked on the creation of the castle, and the mosaic floors were made by the Italian master Erme Cristofoli.

The interior halls are striking in their variety:

  • General Skobelev's office with a collection of weapons,
  • oriental hall with marble columns and Arabic paintings,
  • Art gallery,
  • The
  • oak room.

All rooms are connected by passageways and spiral staircases, which makes a walk around the castle especially fascinating.

Accommodation in a 19th century castle

Today, part of the estate's premises has been carefully restored and is used as a hotel complex. Staying in the castle is a rare opportunity to stay in a real architectural monument, where every detail breathes history.

Nature and surroundings

The castle is located in a picturesque area between the Volga and Vetluga rivers. The estate's territory is decorated with pine forests on the hills, birch forests, lime and oak alleys, and maple groves.

Special attention should be paid to the St. Michael the Archangel Cathedral, a unique temple structure that has no analogues on the left bank of the Volga.

Excursions, events and legends

A rich program has been developed for the guests:

  • traditional and interactive guided tours,
  • individual travel services,
  • folk art workshops,
  • children's, New Year and Christmas programs.

Skobel readings, conferences, seminars, balls, festive evenings and receptions are held in the halls of the castle.

Why you should come

Sheremetyevo Castle is not just a hotel, but a rare place where:

  • history and architecture of the 19th century,
  • nature and silence,
  • cultural events and excursions,
  • the
  • opportunity to live inside a real castle.

A place that surprises at first sight and remains in the memory for a long time.
