Check-in at the hotel by QR code
Hotels can now be checked in with a Digital ID in MAX
In Russia, a new way of checking into hotels has been launched — using a Digital ID in the MAX messenger. Now, instead of presenting a paper passport, the guest can verify their identity using a QR code on their smartphone.
The new service makes hotel check-in faster and more convenient: the necessary data is downloaded from government information systems, so employees do not need to manually transfer information from documents.
How is the check-in going?
-
The
- guest opens the "Digital ID" section in MAX, selects the required document and clicks the "Present" button. The
- hotel employee scans the QR code that appears. The
- guest confirms the data transfer. The
- employee checks the photo and the dynamic QR code using the Goscan service.
The service can also be used when traveling with minor children: the necessary information about the child's documents is available through government digital services.
What is important for tourists to know?
Starting from September 1, 2026,hotels with more than 50 rooms must be able to check in using a Digital ID in MAX.
At the same time, the transition to digital format does not cancel the usual check-in with a paper passport. The tourist chooses a convenient way of registration on their own.
Digital check-in is especially convenient when traveling: the required document is in your smartphone, and the hotel check-in procedure can take only a few minutes.
