History of Paranginsky district

The Paranginsky district was formed at the request of the Tatar population in accordance with the national policy pursued in the country in accordance with the Resolution of the Presidium of the All-Russian Central Executive Committee of April 30, 1931. Until July 8, 1932, the newly formed region was called Tatar (the ethnographic group of Parangin Tatars was formed in the second half of the 16th century). It included 61 settlements, 12 village councils.****

In the pre-war years, 22,300 people lived in 65 settlements in the region. There were 54 collective farms that cultivated 32,850 hectares of land.****

32 schools and 200 teachers were involved in the education and upbringing of children. There were 4,320 children and students of the pedagogical school. Kindergartens and rural children were working. Cultural and educational work was carried out by 13 clubs, 12 reading rooms, and 5 libraries. Treatment of patients was carried out in a district hospital with 60 beds, in two paramedic-obstetric centers, nine paramedic stations, and two outpatient clinics. There was a pharmacy, five pharmacy points.****

With the beginning of the Great Patriotic War, about 8 thousand residents, including the majority of collective farm chairmen, foremen, employees of district institutions and schools, were drafted into the Red Army. Soon most of the tractors, cars, and horses were taken to the front.****

Of the mobilized Parangins, 3,765 people did not return home from the battlefields. Many natives of the region were awarded orders and medals of the USSR for heroic deeds in battles against the Nazis.****

In 1960, 18.8 thousand people lived in 68 settlements. There were 10 collective farms and 4 industrial enterprises in the region. Compared to the post-war years, they began to work more stably and more productively. In agriculture, milk yield increased 4 times, meat production increased 2 times. The number of agricultural machines has increased. There were 116 tractors and 79 combines in the area. The number of horses decreased from 2.3 thousand (1953) to 900 (1962).****

In December 1962, the Paranginsky district was liquidated, and the villages became part of the Mari-Tureksky district. But already in January 1965, according to the decrees of the Presidium of the Supreme Council of the RSFSR and the Presidium of the Supreme Council of the Mari Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic, the Paranginsky district was restored again. Villages of the Eleevsky Village Council were additionally included in its composition. Ravil Khusnutdinovich  Safin was elected Chairman of the district executive committee.****

In 1977, the district expanded to include villages of the Russko-Lyazhmarinsky village council.****

In the 80s of the 20th century, the region produced up to 64 thousand tons of grain, and also occupied a leading position in the republic in terms of the intensity of meat and milk production.****
During 1965-1990, the population of the region increased from 18.7 to 19.8 thousand people.****

In accordance with the reform of local self-government in the municipal region, one urban settlement has been formed and is functioning - the village of Paranga and 8 rural settlements. There are a total of 49 settlements in the region, people live in them.****

For more than 17 years, since February 2001, the district has been headed by Alfit Gabdulkhakovich Ibraev.****
